Obituary of Helena Brewer Hilfiker

Webster/Penn Yan: Sun., Nov, 15, 2015, age 93. Predeceased by her husband, Wilbur "Web" Hilfiker. She leaves her children, Sandra (James) Branski of Chaumont, Patricia (Frank) Elliott of Danville, CA, Thomas (Shelley) Hilfiker of Branchport and Amy (Thomas) Meisner of Webster; grandchildren, Jamie Branski, Melanie Branski, P.J. Elliott, Ryan (Krista) Elliott, William (Valaree) Elliott, Stacey Elliott, Carrie (Jakob) Herrmann and Tom Meisner; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Reta Brewer; nieces and nephews A long-time Webster resident, Helena was valedictorian at Webster High School and graduated with honors from the University of Rochester. Always active in her community, she volunteered her talents in many areas of church life and worked on the WHS alumni committee for years. Her love of music led her to a long career teaching piano and organ and to over 40 years as organist at the United Methodist Church. She accompanied many community groups and played for RLT commencements. In her 60's she learned to play the banjo and played in a local band. She enjoyed her flower gardens and books, socializing with her church friends and high school sorority sisters, taking long walks, and attending concerts & musicals. Most of all she treasured the happy times with her family, in later years at the Keuka Lake cottage. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at the Homestead in PennYan for their loving care of Helena and Wilbur. Friends are invited to a joint Memorial Service 2:00 PM Sun., Nov. 29 at the United Methodist Church of Webster, 169 E. Main St., Webster, for Helena and her husband Web, who died April 4, 2015.
